Wohnanlage H

Wohnanlage H
Nestled within the verdant Eisacktal valley in South Tyrol’s alpine municipality of Lüsen, Wohnanlage H is a 2022 residential development by Arch. Klement Stefan through StudioKlement Architects. This trio of detached yet interconnected single-family homes embodies contemporary alpine residential design, adhering to Klimahaus Standard A for energy efficiency. The project reimagines the traditional Reihenhaus (row house) typology by staggering three volumes along the slope, creating a fragmented yet unified mass that respects the valley’s gentle topography.
The staggered arrangement ensures each unit enjoys optimal solar exposure while maintaining privacy through strategic setbacks. Circulation begins at the shared underground garage, accessed via a landscaped forecourt that softens the transition between car and pedestrian scales. Inside, each three-story home unfolds vertically: the ground floor houses the living and dining areas, the upper level accommodates bedrooms, and the attic serves as a flexible retreat. Large, precisely placed windows and a bold roof incision frame views toward the Brixen Valley, while the facade’s irregular vertical timber lamellae—sourced from the clients’ own forest—echo the region’s rustic aesthetic.
StudioKlement Architects’ material palette balances modernity with local tradition, using untreated larch and concrete to harmonize with the surrounding pine forests and limestone outcrops. The project’s Klimahaus A certification underscores its passive design strategies, including superinsulated envelopes and minimal mechanical systems, aligning with South Tyrol’s push for sustainable mountain living. The result is a residential ensemble that blends functional clarity with contextual sensitivity, proving that even in dense alpine valleys, privacy and openness can coexist.
